Dr Anish Ghimire, SCARE Project Coordinator
Dr. Ghimire is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Dr. Ghimire teaches undergraduate and graduate courses related to Water and Wastewater Engineering in Environmental Science and Engineering programs.
His research interest is in biological processes for waste(water) treatment and resource recovery, treatment process monitoring, GHG emission modeling, WASH, and Life Cycle Assessments. Dr. Ghimire, a registered engineer in Nepal Engineering Council has authored more than 30 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and seven book chapters. Scholar Google; ORCID; Linkedin

Dr Subodh Sharma, Principal Investigator
Dr. Sharma is currently a Professor at the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering within the School of Science at Kathmandu University. He also serves as a visiting professor at the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR). Dr. Subodh has previously served as the Registrar of Kathmandu University and the director of the Aquatic Ecology Centre, a research entity affiliated with KU, dedicated to this project. He holds a PhD from the University of Natural Resources in Vienna, Austria.
Dr. Sharma’s research interest revolves around WASH, particularly in assessing water quality through macroinvertebrate studies. His contributions to academia are substantial, encompassing 64 national-level publications, 73 International publications, and authorship of three books. With over three decades of experience, Dr. Subodh brings extensive expertise to guide the SCARE Project in Nepal as the Project Investigator.

Prativa Poudel, PhD Scholar
Ms. Poudel is a Ph.D. scholar at the School of Science at Kathmandu University, currently conducting her research entitled “Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from On-site Sanitation Systems in Nepal,”. Leading her post-graduate research, she contributes valuable insights to the ongoing efforts of the SCARE Project. She serves as a Research Associate for the project. Her academic journey, which commenced with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the same field, has evolved into a substantial career in the WASH sector since 2016. She has 6 Publications in International peer-reviewed journals and a book chapter.

Sarana Tuladhar, Research Associate
Sarana is a recent graduate of Bachelor’s in Environmental Science from Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal. She has a strong interest in water, wastewater, and sanitation-related problems and innovative solutions for the same. Currently, she serves as a Research Assistant for the SCARE Project, Nepal, where her responsibilities span a broad spectrum of activities, from undertaking fieldwork that includes assessing greenhouse gas emissions from the on-site sanitation system of Nepal to conducting laboratory analysis of faecal sludge.
